Why Zero Trust is Crucial in 2025
As we conclude 2024, it has become evident that partners are facing more limited access to their customers’ Microsoft 365 environments. This shift is primarily due to the growing adoption of Zero Trust principles, aimed at bolstering security. Although a staggering 70% of SMBs might not be familiar with Zero Trust, its significance cannot be understated. Companies (and therefore MSPs) must help establish and support a secure foundation before leveraging the latest technological trends (i.e. AI).
Impact on Managed Service Providers (MSPs)
For MSPs, this trend means more limited access to customer environments without explicit authorization. This is because MSPs often act as custodians of sensitive data and therefore represent a significant attack vector for malicious actors. If compromised, MSPs can serve as a gateway to inflict harm on numerous SMBs at scale, making stringent security measures a necessity. This is why Microsoft places such a strong emphasis on Zero Trust principles – to ensure that access is precisely managed, risks are minimized, and security is upheld at the highest level.
Introducing Delegated Auth Access
At SkyKick, we remain committed to preparing our partners for the future. Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest feature: Delegated Auth Access. This release helps partners ensure a secure start to your customers’ Microsoft 365 data protection journey.
How It Works
With Delegated Authentication, partners no longer need to have the required permissions to authenticate Cloud Backup as part of our Entra ID application installation or reauthorization processes. This process can now be delegated to another person, customer or otherwise, with sufficient permissions to perform the task.
Benefits for MSPs
As a result of this release, partners are now able to offer:
- Bolster Security: Partners can ensure secure backup solutions and use this opportunity to educate customers on their Zero Trust journey.
- Accelerate Deployment: By empowering customers, partners can expedite the transition from initial conversation to full protection.
- Increased Transparency: As more customers lean into their data protection journey, you not only involve them at the beginning but can also continue this engagement with other capabilities such as Customer Self-Service and Smart Insights.
Available Today
Delegated Auth Access is available for use starting today. We are excited to see our partners leverage this feature to provide even better service to their customers while maintaining the highest standards of security.
